Numbers

Say what you will about Idol, but you can't deny that it's a force to be reckoned with. Look at the jump in sales for the following albums after the artists appeared on American Idol (from Entertainment Weekly):

Stevie Wonder, A Time to Love
Before Idol: 2,900
After Idol: 5,500
Increase: 90%

Queen, Greatest Hits
Before Idol: 6,000
After Idol: 14,000
Increase: 133%

Barry Manilow, The Greatest Songs of the Fifties
Before Idol: 32,000
After Idol: 78,000
Increase: 144%

Shakira, Oral Fixation Vol. 2
Before Idol: 11,000
After Idol: 81,000
Increase: 636%

AI is close to reaching Oprah-like levels.

I know the songs for tonight but I won't bother to comment on any except Chris doing "A Little Less Conversation." Oh no you di'n't! That song belongs to JPL, bitch!
