Premier Night

I was pretty meh about The Office premier last night. I hope people who watched it for the first time last night, like Feather, give it another change. I'm interested to see where they're going with the Jim being in Stamford thing and the Roy/Pam breakup. I felt the whole meeting, especially the kissing Oscar thing, was too over the top, even for this show. There's no way in real life Toby would have allowed that to happen. I think the show is starting to get too sitcom-my. I think the writers need to have a marathon of the UK version. Don't get me wrong, I adore the show, but I think season 1 was the best and it has been slowly going downhill. I did like Ryan's "that'll show 'em," Dwight's thinking about Angela with another woman and Stanley's speech about the toaster.

On the other hand, I thought ER was really good! I was going to be royally pissed if they killed Luka, Abby, the spawn of Luka and Abby, or Jerry. Damn, Goran looked fine last night! Yay, Mrs. Costanza! Usually I despise Sam's stories (and I blame the writers because I love Linda Cardellini), but last night's was pretty cool.

I still have high hopes for my Thursday night TV and I hope they keep Deal or No Deal on at 9 so I can watch my tape of The Office without worrying about missing something good.

*Update: Maybe I'm being a little too harsh since I've had a massively shitty week. Or maybe not...

Although I have TiVo, I watched The Office last night because I knew that you would be posting about it.

As much as I like the show, I felt a really uncomfortable with the gay theme. That whole bit in the conference room? Completely over the top.

I figure that they'll somehow get Jim back in the office over the next few episodes. He's the funny one. For a minute I thought that Oscar was going to quit and Jim was going to take his job, but guess not.

Also, I thought it was interesting how time has passed since the finale. Usually shows pick up whre they left off, but I like that all this stuff happened that they can fill us in on. It's a nice departure from the ordinary.

Office was great. We loved it here (well the people around me) the jokes were just so funny..Sharper Image is sold out so check brookstone and "Big Tuna".

ER was good. I have been a fan of the show since it started and its been so up and down the last few years. Rumor has it that it is going on "hiatus" come January. Gonna try to find more.

I just wish they'd get a "nice/smart" doctor and just develop the characters more.

Overall what I watched
Earl - B+
Office - A-
Greys - A-
ER - A

CSI is on dvr so my hopes are high.

I'm a relieved to read that. I felt traitorous, now not so much. Overall I liked the premiere, but I thought they were pushing it a little. The best thing about that show is that it's "real" and not forced and just damn funny because of it. Carell didn't seem comfortable. Over the top is his gig and normally I'm with him every step of the way. If they had just stopped with the hug, I think I would have an entirely different opinion. That being said, I'm still going to watch. Kind of like voting. I can't bitch if I don't. :)

I'm pretty new to the Office scene, but J. and I liked it last night. I also couldn't believe the kissing scene. We thought the calculator in the Jello was hilarious.

I didn't watch ER yet, but I DVR'd it. I can't wait.

I LOVE me some Dr. Kovach. (With an H? LOVE.HIM). I used to work w/someone who was Luka's SPITTING IMAGE. Yah, it was weird.

I am thinking about downloading an iTunes Office show.....just don't know which one.

The comment that Steve Correll's character about calling your friends retarded when they act like retards was FREAKING hilarious. I laughed out loud. My mom had to come check on me.

Ennui: Hey! It's been a while! I agree with everything you said. I think they'll downsize Stamford and have them come to Scranton. That's what they did in the UK version. I knew from reading interviews that it was going to be in real time, so I was really hoping Pam and Roy didn't get married.

March: I love the gaydar! I think last season of ER was pretty good. They lost me when the helicopter killed Romano and I think I skipped a season, but I loved Thursday night's show. I think Neela fits the bill of nice/smart. I didn't see Earl (it's stupid, but I've always been bitter that that show got so much more attention than Office) and I don't watch Gray's.

Karen: Total agreement, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that way.

B: If you liked the calculator in the jell-o, rent season 1 :).

Noelle: Ummm, where was this place you worked that had someone who looked like Luka? :) The retard part was funny.

Hotwire: That was awesome :).

I stand corrected on Steve Carell's inner feelings when performing. According to Jenna's latest blog, the kiss was his idea and was completely improvised. Shows how much I know. :)

I'm surprised that was improvised too. I think part of it has to do with the fact that I started watching at the conference room scene because my tape wasn't rewound the whole way. I watched it start to finish tonight and liked it more.
