This "is" Funny

I found this blog today from the Pop Candy website: The "Blog" of "Unnecessary" Quotation Marks. My personal favorites are:

Here: "Also, we barely know what's in hot dogs, I don't even want to think about what 'hot dogs' might contain."

Here: The lone quotation mark.

And here: WTF?

Speaking of grammar and punctuation, I bought a jar of pizza sauce made by a local company. The jar proclaims that the pizza sauce would be good on all my pizza's. Sigh...

I love that blog! That one and apostrophe abuse provide no end of entertainment. "The buns are above" really struck me funny. I don't know why.

I got a MySpace bulletin the other day from my favorite local watering hole which features food you'd never expect to find in a bar and is owned by an incredibly nice person. According to the bulleting, every Monday night they will be featuring "musician's, artist's, comedian's, dancer's, storyteller's, poet's, magician's and ranter's." My heart sank. I thought about sending a very nice e-mail, but decided against it. I think I'll just show up and rant about bad punctuation.

...and typos because I just can't seem to get a handle on that. D'oh!

I didn't click because I am so afraid there will be examples culled from my blogs...

Dim: I'm sort of embarrassed to admit how much time I spent reading that and laughing.

Karen: Argh!!!! I'm confused. What object of the artists, comedians, dancers, storytellers, poets, magicians and ranters will they be featuring?

March: Awww, you know we love you. And there's a huge difference between have a grammatical error on your blog and having one on a sign a business has publicly posted.

GAAAH! I have a rant on this, too, Karen. I'd go there and rant about grammatically incorrect signage. I think I'll blog about grammatically incorrect signage, now that I think about it.

I have to admit, though, I do use quotations marks liberally. Oops.

Bah! What a great blog!

I try my best not to be a grammar/punctuation snob, mainly because I don't "know" all the rules.

But man, when I go to my family's website, and posts swarming with apostrophe errors, my heart always sinks.

I think they'll be featuring their song's, idea's and creation's. Just a guess.

Rusty: I use way too many finger quotes. But no one can prove it. :)

HAHA. Hilarious! My biggest pet peeve is when I see the signs at schools that say "Girl's Restroom" and the same for Boy's.

(I added the quotes here.)

;)

Those schools must be pretty big if each girl and boy has his or her own restroom.
