I'm Old

Guys, I'm falling apart! I have a chipped tooth and the dentist can't see me till June 23rd. I knew no good would come out of the big 2-5. I didn't eat anything hard yesterday; in fact, everything I ate was soft. I had some macaroni and cheese, then I took my mom out and had boneless fried chicken and mashed potatoes, soup, and biscuits (we York Countians love our starch). Then I had a yogurt smoothie for a snack last night. What the hell?!

I've never had tooth problems before. My parents spent enough at the orthodontist to pay his whole mortgage, but the only thing my dentist has ever done for me besides cleaning--which he doesn't even do; he comes in after the cleaning, sticks his mirror in my mouth, and tells me my teeth are beautiful--is pull a baby tooth so I could get my braces on and fill in a little gap that was still there once my teeth were straightened. I've never had a cavity or anything. This is what happens when you get old!

The dentist...*shudders* You know how I feel about teeth.

I had a chipped tooth once, and I don't know how I got it. I called him on a Thursday morning at college, and he saw me that afternoon when I came back to York. Your dentist is either too busy, or he sucks.

Yes I do. The same way I feel about eyes. Did it hurt to have your chip fixed? They did say I could call if it started to hurt. I guess a chipped tooth isn't considered an emergency.

One of my students fell down and chipped one of his permament teeth on the playground last week. Yes, he chipped it on the blacktop after he fell over another kid. The dentist told him they wouldn't do anything about it until he was 18. ????

Teeth. *shudders again* I know how you feel about eyes. They're gross, too, but teeth are worse.

Yeah, Dim, you're such a geez. Get over it. 35 isn't old. 80 is old.

You think you've got it bad, now? Wait til you hit 30. It really IS all downhill from there.

When I was in Utah, I had to have an emergency root canal. The tooth was absessed (sp?) and the stupid endodontist couldn't get my bloody tooth numb. He gave me a zillion shots to numb it--and decided to go forward anyways. He hit a nerve and I scratched the HELL out of my arms.

I get freaked out now just thinking about it. I shudder for the day when I'll have to return for more than a hellish cleaning.

Can you call another dentist? I don't think you should have to wait a whole month. I mean, if you have to wait this long, couldn't it get messed up in the waiting and mess up the nerve and then you'd have to get a root canal, too?

(sorry for the book-ish post).

My teeth are a mess!

No dentalk insurence so I'm dealing with it! I'ma few years older than you so by your logic they should just start falling out anyway!

B: I think that kid needs a new dentist!

Dim: Something to look forward to.

Feather: Ewww, that's horrible! I've been going to this dentist for my whole life, so I'm sort of hesitant to switch. They'll get me in if it starts to hurt.

Annoyed: You should be well on your way to having no teeth! :)

Abnormal: LOL, thanks!

I chipped my front left tooth when I was 7. It's fine now. I haven't been to the dentist in a loong time. I hate going too.

The big 2-5 isn't all that bad. The only problem I had was that I started having heartburn.

I hope that your tooth gets better. No eating peanut brittle!! Hahaha.
