Jen's Least Favorite Night (AKA Country Night)

Mommy, Kenny Rogers's face is scaring me! He looks younger now than he did in the '80s. The reason I wait till Wednesday morning to do my AI post is two-fold. The first is that I'm usually too tired after the show to do it, the second is that it's a good test of whether or not someone is memorable. I'm finding that most people last night weren't.

Taylor: As per my usual Taylor routine, I left the room to go do something while he was on, but I did hear that he sounded like ass and was completely off key.

Mandisa: "Any Man of Mine?" Even I could pick a better country song than that. She sounded ok, I guess, but that was a bad choice.

Elliott: I don't remember what he sang to save my life, but I remember thinking he sounded good.

Paris: "How Do I Live" is about as country as "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp." Paris sounded fine, but again: crappy choice.

Ace: I thought he sounded the best he has since "Father Figure" and he looked like he actually washed his hair. Oh Ace, I'm sorry that I ever doubted you. Now lets go have a million babies. I'm really scared for him, especially considering he was #5, but he did get to stand right behind Ryan at the closing, which is always a plus. I'm not ready to lose him yet, especially if next week is truly Queen night like I heard it will be. Ace can sing "Fat Bottom Girls." He'll probably sing "You're My Best Friend" though, but a girl can dream.

Kellie: Never heard the song. She sounded fine but I know nothing about country.

Chris: I don't have any idea what song he sang, but that was my second favorite performance of his. He almost made up for singing Creed last week. Almost.

Katharine: That song sucked but she sounded pretty good.

Bucky: Even though I can't remember what song he did, I had heard it before, but I think that's because someone did a pop remake of it. He sounded like ass.

I wish would go: Kellie or Taylor
Will go: This is hard. I'm leaning towards Ace, but I REALLY don't want that to happen yet. I even tried to vote for him about 15 times last night. Only 3 went through, which is another possibly good sign. Maybe Bucky or Katharine will go home. I'd sacrifice Bucky for Ace in a heartbeat. I'm shallow like that.

I don't think Ace is going anywhere.

Based on last night alone, I would unfortunately have to send home Taylor.

If next week is Queen week and Bucky makes it through this week unscathed, I have money on him doing "Crazy Little Thing Called Love".

Then Chris will do a dead-on cover of Nine Inch Nails' version of "Get Down, Make Love", which will cause the following things to happen:

Chris will claim to not know it was a Queen song.

Randy Jackson will sit there with his jaw dropped for 10 seconds before mentioning he played bass with Journey and they did a lot of songs with the word "Love" in the title.

Simon will praise Chris for making the song his own, but question the song choice, especially the phrase, "You say you're hungry; I give you meat."

And that phrase alone causes Ryan and Paula to both spontaneously combust in orgasmic glee.

- Not D.

Yeah, but Taylor's not going anywhere. Taylor, Kellie, and Chris are pretty much a lock for the final 3. Everyone who is left seems to have a strong fan base except Paris. I don't think Ace's fan base is that strong either, but the media is really liking him, and I'm sure The Powers That Be know that. Mandisa probably pissed a lot of people off last week. Stereotypically, one of her main fanbases should be gay men. I'm sure they're not on board with the anti-gay stuff she has been accused of.

Your hypothetical situation cracked me the hell up. Randy needs to quit with the name-dropping. YES, we know you were in Journey. Was he even with them that long? I always picture him being their bassist's replacement for one tour or something, and then acting like he was a key member. I could look it up, but I don't care THAT much.

Whoa, what anti-gay stuff? I don't know about that.

Yeah, Randy was in the band for a little bit of time, but it was well after their commercial peak (the Escape and Frontiers albums). He came in as they were breaking up and Perry was more interested in doing "Oh Sherry".

I say its going to be Bucky or Ace. Honestly I think that Kellie is annoying and too much like the "typical Idol." I want someone unique to win, not another Carrie Underwood type.

I also have heard that song that Bucky sang, the re-make, can't remember who did it though..Was it Edwin McAain??

Vertical Horizon was the group who sang "Best I Ever Had." Then Gary Allen did a country version of it. I thought Bucky did well with it. Jenny, we'll have to fight for Ace to see who can have more babies with him. :)

I know I heard that song before! I think I'd be willing to share Ace :) I wouldn't feel right hogging him.
