Issues

I'm getting really tired of hearing people bitch about the legislation around illegal immigrants, which makes it a felony to be in the country illegally, fines employers who hire illegal immigrants, and builds a fence at the border. I can't believe I agree with the Republicans, but the keyword here is illegal. Heaven forbid we don't do something that is illegal! Why even bother to obey the law at all? If you want to come here, do it legally. Plenty of people have. Unlike the Republicans, I don't totally buy into the whole "They're taking jobs from our citizens" bullshit, but this is a non-issue. If you do something illegal, you should be punished.

I'm also a tired of the race card being played in the alleged rape of the stripper at the Duke University lacrosse team party. If a woman was raped, why does it matter what color she is or what color the players were? They took DNA samples from all the players except one: the only black player. This is based on the fact that the stripper said all the men who assaulted her were white. Shouldn't they have taken all the DNA anyway? Would black leaders be speaking out against the rape if the victim were white? Perhaps, perhaps not. But it really shouldn't matter.

Right on! :-)

Dude, here's how it goes in my book:

1. Be a dork and follow the rules and if you want to come to the USA and live and work here, do it legally.

2. If you are a stripper and you go to a party w/lacrosse players from Duke you should remember that the guys there will be drunk and horny. Plus no offense but since you're a stripper dressed all slutty they will think that they can just take advantage of you.

Thank you JennyG and goodnight.

Caroline: While I don't think she deserved to be raped by any means (if, in fact, she was raped), it probably wasn't the best judgement to strip at a house party. But no one will know what really happened except the guys at the party and that girl. I have a feeling none of the guys will be that likely to squeal, except someone reported an e-mail that one of the guys wrote inviting them over for a party the next night to kill and skin a stripper (creepy, huh?), so maybe someone will come forward.

Noelle: Not ALL, just the ones in the government :)

No. Black leaders would not speak out against it if the victim was white. They only speak out against black crimes to increase their church memberships and donations. Ever notice that the majority of "black leaders" are also preachers? That's the biggest trick of all. Oh, I could talk on this forever. LOL

Okay, I'm sorry that didn't come out right. No one in this entire world deserves to be raped. Lets hope that someone decides to get some courage and step foward.

And, yes, all of the Republicans in the government are bad, Feather is not! :-)

1) I think the main issue with the immigration thing is that illegal immigrants = Mexicans. Which is shady and wrong on so many levels. If they build a fence around the southern border, they better build one around the northern too.

I'm just against the fence in general, but I am 100% republican when it comes to the illegal aspect. I need you to be able to speak English, and have certain tools at your disposal. Plus, it's better for the immigrants because of the way some of their employers abuse them.

2. I won't get into the whole black leader thing, but I will say that everyone should have been tested. If she were truly in that situation, I doubt she would have the mental capacity to remember every single detail. That truth will come out, there's no way that many people can hold a secret that big.

Also, no, the black leaders would not get involved if it were a white victim, but that's the point. White victims, for the most part, have automatic coverage. There's more to that, but still.

Love ya babe!

Abnormal: I always assumed that the reason black leaders were preachers was that church is an extremely integral part of the African American culture. I could be completely wrong though. Also, preachers are obviously charismatic people. I think everyone should be angry that it happened, regardless of what color anyone involved is.

Noelle: Yeah, people can be reformed, but people can also spout a bunch of BS to get themselves out of situations. Especially criminals.

Caroline: Oh, I know you weren't saying that :). And I agree that if you play with fire, you might get burned.

Sticky: I'd be interested to see the percentages of the nationalities of illegal immigrants in this country. I suppose it's easier for Mexicans because they can just walk here. I think the fence is a bit excessive. They'll still find a way. I know I sound like a redneck, but I definitely think you should be able to speak English, or not expect to take advantage of our programs. When we have Spanish-speaking clients come in we have to pay for an interpreter. That's not right.

I'm not saying black leaders shouldn't have spoken out, because I know if it was a white woman raped by a team of black guys all hell would be breaking loose. As I said before, I think everyone should be pissed. When I first read the story I pictures the strippers as white in my head. It didn't change my opinion when I found out they were black, but I knew it would change the way things were handled.

Thanks for all the comments, guys. You all rock!
