Brokeback Mountain

I watched Brokeback Mountain the other week and was wondering if anyone else had seen it. Did I miss something? I thought it was incredibly slow and boring (and no, I'm not one of those people who watches action flicks) and I didn't give a rat's rectum about the relationship because I didn't care about Ennis or Jack as people. They did nothing to make me like them. I also felt no sadness whatsoever when (it's been long enough that this isn't a spoiler) Jack died. Am I just a cold, heartless bitch or did other people feel this way too?

when I first watched it I too didn't get it..it was drawn out slow etc. Then when the film ended mrs march said she loved it..and I asked her "why" because often times I miss things.

***spoiler alert for people that have not see and may care***

She made a good point about the relationship. It was hidden and forced them to each have bad jobs, marriages suffer and all that..all because if they'd come out they'd have not only their lives ruined but those around them.

I didn't LOVE the film mind you but it was better than I expected.

I liked it quite a lot, but I'm a big Gylllenhaaale (sp? :)) fan. I really don't care who he's doing. I think, though, that part of the issue with the pace of the film is that it was hyped so much and everyone went in with big expectations. It would be interesting to jump in the wayback machine and have it be a small independent film with unknowns just to see how it would play.

I have yet to see the movie, but read the short story it was based on years ago. I could see how it might drag on -being that is was based on a SHORT story. I liked the story well enough, but I don't know if I care to actually watch it drawn out over two hours, myself.

March: I understand WHY I'm supposed to care, I just don't.

Rust: It's fair game after a year and trust me, if you watch the movie you won't care.

Hot: They could have cut it down by half.

Karen: Jake is hot, but he wasn't hot to me in this movie. I think it's because I thought his character was pathetic.

Meta: That explains it!
